Two-factor authentication (2FA) greatly enhances your account security by requiring a second piece of information to validate your identity when logging in. When two-factor authentication is activated, accessing your account requires valid login credentials as well as a one time password (TOTP) / 2FA authentication code provided by your mobile device.
Configure two-factor authentication for your account:
Login to your account and head over to Personal Settings.
On the Security & Privacy section, click Enable Two-Factor Authentication to start the guided process.
Step 1
Confirm your account password and click Configure.
Step 2
Scan the displayed QR code with the selected application to connect the application with your Pressidium account. If you have trouble scanning the QR code you can type the code manually in your app. Enter the authentication code generated by the application in the related input box and proceed to the next step by pressing Next Step.
Step 3
Save your recovery keys. Your recovery keys allow you to login to your account if you are unable to access your mobile device and the connected application. You can opt to download them as a plain text file, a PDF file or print them and store them in a safe place. Each recovery key can be used only once.
Step 4
Complete the process, confirming that you want to enable two-factor authentication by clicking Yes, Enable Two-Factor Authentication. Everything is setup and at the next login you will be presented with an additional screen to provide the authentication code generated by the connected application.
Disable Two-Factor authentication
Login to the Pressidium Dashboard and head over to Personal Settings.
On the Security & Privacy section, click Disable Two-Factor Authentication. Enter your current password and click Disable Two-Factor Authentication to complete the process.
To re enable two-factor authentication you need to follow the process detailed above to connect an authenticator app to your account.
Generate new recovery keys
Each recovery key can be used only once, but you can generate a new set of recovery keys via the Pressidium dashboard. This can be useful if you have used all of your previous recovery keys or misplaced them.
Login to the Pressidium Dashboard and head over to Personal Settings.
On the Security & Privacy section, click Generate new Recovery keys. Enter your your current password and click Confirm to generate a new set of recovery keys. Make sure that you save the new recovery keys. Your previous recovery keys will be rendered invalid.
Recover your account
If you have lost access to your authentication device you can use one of your recovery keys to login. You can then proceed to disable two factor authentication and connect a new device following the steps detailed above.
If you have lost access to both your authentication device and recovery keys contact Pressidium support (support@pressidium.com) to have your account access restored. Please note that in this case you may need to provide a valid government issued photo ID (passport, national ID card, drivers license) and proof of address (a recent utility bill).
