Email limits
Pressidium sends ordinary WordPress email through MailChannels SMTP. You do not need an SMTP plugin for contact forms, password resets, comments, and similar site mail.
There is no customer-facing SMTP host, port, or username for that platform relay. Do not look for Pressidium SMTP credentials to paste into a plugin.
What the MailChannels relay is for
Use the platform relay for regular website email. Pressidium hosting is not designed for newsletters, bulk campaigns, or mass mailing.
If you send newsletters or bulk campaigns, use a third-party service such as Mailchimp, GetResponse, Constant Contact, or SendGrid. Those services send from their own infrastructure, not from the Pressidium relay.
MailChannels may apply its own sending limits and anti-spam policies. This article does not list a numeric cap. If you need the limit that applies to your account, open a Support request and include the website.
When a third-party SMTP plugin is appropriate
You do not need an SMTP plugin to use the MailChannels relay.
A third-party SMTP plugin is appropriate when you send mail through a third-party email service that the plugin is configured for, instead of through the Pressidium relay.
Do not install an SMTP plugin in order to obtain or enter Pressidium SMTP credentials. Those credentials are not provided.
Before you install a mail-related plugin, check Why do we ban certain plugins? and the banned plugins list.
Add MailChannels to your SPF record
Receiving mail servers use an SPF TXT record to check which senders may use your domain. Authorize MailChannels by adding their include to that record.
If the domain has no SPF record, add one TXT record:
v=spf1 include:relay.mailchannels.net ~all
If the domain already has an SPF record, add include:relay.mailchannels.net to that record. Do not create a second SPF record. Place the include before ~all.
Example:
- Before:
v=spf1 include:example.com ~all - After:
v=spf1 include:example.com include:relay.mailchannels.net ~all
For what SPF and related DNS records do, see The 2-minute DNS guide.
If legitimate mail from the site is not delivered, or you need the current SPF record for your domain, open a Support request and include the website and an example From address.
Need help?
If legitimate emails are not being delivered, or you are not sure whether your site’s email volume is affected by platform limits, open a Support request. Include the website, an example From address, and what the recipient saw (bounce, delay, or missing message).
